Wrong on so many levels: the M5 station wagon
January 10, 2007
No, this is not a joke or some kind of hack job. BMW has decided, for the first time, to produce an M5 “Touring” (just say it, it’s a station wagon). It shares the same specs as the, uh, “regular” 507hp V-10 sedan M5, and with the added weight just drops 0.1 seconds to 60 mph. It will be sold in Europe, where I’m sure its 17 customers per year will be happy, but there’s no word on if it will ever come to the States. Like its popular (but not prolific — what marketing whack thought it would be a good idea to produce an even more limited production version of an already limited production vehicle?) counterpart, you can expect to pay north of $90k if you need some cargo space but still just have to blow the doors off of just about every other vehicle on the road.

Are you against it?

They should offer it with wood paneling . . . a 200 mph “woodie.”
