Electric car faster than a Ferrari

May 5, 2006

The guys of Silicon Valley seem to be betting that they — not the Big Three in Detroit — will be the future of automobiles. Engineer Ian Wright has built a car that out-accelerates a Porsche Carrera GT, a Ferrari 360 Modena, and virtually everything else you’ll find on the road (with the single exception of the Bugatti Veyron, the 1001-hp $1.25 million monster from VW) — for the relatively bargain-basement price of $100,000.

It’s called the X1, and it looks like a lot of fun. Check out the video on CNN Business 2.0.
