Colbert slams Bush at White House dinner
May 1, 2006
In a scathing routine at the White House, Steven Colbert slammed the Bush administration for pretty much every major screwup, lie, deception, and poor decision over the last 5 years. The exclusive black-tie dinner began with lighthearted performances making jabs at the president’s lack of speaking skills, but Colbert’s commentary was so sharp — and hit with a bit too much “truthiness”, according to some annonymous guests — that many visitors seemed to be confused about how to react, and became uncomfortable. The president certainly was not amused by the end of Colbert’s act. I’ve heard the video is absolutely hilarious; I’m downloading it now.
