Set your cell phone to stun

April 21, 2006

Motorola has patented a new technology that allows users to be silently (even more silently than vibrate mode, apparently) alerted to an incoming call with a mild electric shock. No, I’m not making this up. Imagine the health warnings that will come with this phone, on top of the usual fare about radiation. Apparently, you can set up “shock profiles”; for example, if your friend calls it’s a normal voltage, but if your wife calls it jolts you straight out of your chair.

  • I don’t think the end result would be silent due to the screaming/jumping that would occur when the shock happens…but maybe that just applies to me. :-P
